Course Overview
Come for a day of updates on the essentials of Hospital Medicine and for comraderie with colleagues from around the country! Our Hospital Medicine conference has a 1-day format that provides the key content you need to expand your expertise in the most vibrant manner possible. A session to highlight will be learning how to apply the ACC/AHA perioperative guidelines to your patients from international expert in peri-operative management Steven Cohn. Other sessions address the conditions hospitalists commonly face, including managing patients on anticoagulants who are bleeding, a rapid approach to the the decompensating patient, update in treating acute CHF, and developing your expertise in inpatient diabetes management. Our faculty consists of national and international leaders in their fields and our sessions are designed to provide highly relevant material in a concise and stimulating format. The fast pace, exciting topics, and expert faculty ensure a highly effective and valuable experience!

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Understand authoritative guidelines and best evidence for cardiac risk assessment for patients undergoing major surgery
  2. Develop confidence in using buprenorphine to treat patients with opioid withdrawal
  3. Recognize the appropriate timing to restart anticoagulants for patients with major bleeding
  4. Discuss rapid and effective care to stabilize your decompensating patients
  5. Initiate goal directed medical therapy in an optimal sequence for your patients hospitalized with Heart Failure with reduced EF and Heart Failure with preserved EF.

Join us for a trip to The Frick Collection! Open since 1935, the museum houses the art collection of Henry Clay Frick in his former Fifth Avenue home. A museum educator will invite participants to look closely at and engage critically with two to three works of art from the Frick's permanent collection, in addition to a brief introduction to the museum's history and its founder. There will be opportunities to participate throughout the program. This visit is capped off at 15 participants.
