Course Overview
The RMTI Transplant Hepatology Fellows Conferences bring together clinicians from a broad spectrum of clinical specialties, including hepatology, hepatobiliary surgery, surgical oncology, anesthesiology, critical care, radiology, medical subspecialties, virology, genetics, pathology, transplant immunology, infectious diseases, psychiatry and transplant pharmacology. Caring for patients with liver disease and those who are pre- and post-transplant is complex and involves multiple disciplines. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from experts in their respective fields and to learn about system-based practices. Many of these experts are Mount Sinai physicians who have honed their skills and acquired significant expertise having already spent extensive periods caring for this cohort of complex patients. The hour-long conference also allows fellows to present to their peers and to faculty members via Journal Clubs, Clincopathologic Conferences (which are presented jointly with a pathology fellow), and Immunosuppression Conferences. This fosters for the fellows and all attendees the Core Competencies.

Objectives
  1. Identify additional interventions that can improve outcomes among patients with advanced liver disease
  2. Review recent data on new pharmacotherapies and dietary interventions for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and identify in which specific patient populations these can be applied.
  3. Describe disparities in liver transplantation and discuss interventions to reduce these disparities.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credits
