The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Grand Rounds is a monthly didactic activity intended to provide an interactive platform of critical dialogue regarding all aspects of the specialty of Cardiovascular Surgery. The delivery format has been structured to engage attendees in an intimate conversation with global leaders in the field of Cardiovascular Disease with the aim to exchange and disseminate knowledge between local and international peers. Target Audience: | Cardiovascular Surgeons, Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Perfusionists & Anesthesiologists. Accreditation: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physician should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 1. Describe recent society guideline recommendations updates for the diagnosis and management of structural heart and coronary artery disease, and explain their role in risk stratification and patient selection.
2. Describe major morbidities following cardiac surgery for Mount Sinai Health System and Develop events leading to mortality following cardiac surgery and any alternative approaches which may have changed outcomes
3. Review and define current challenges in the quality of healthcare delivery for cardiovascular surgery patients
4. Identify possible pathways of care quality improvement and summarize an appropriate implementation plan.
