Course Overview
This is a longitudinal monthly program zoom conference. This program intended for faculty who have an oversight role in the area of graduate medical education regarding trainee well-being and are seeking the skills and knowledge to enhance new or existing GME well-being initiatives with a particular focus on the impact of COVID-19 and recent attention to the impact of racism. This interactive, skills-based program places special attention on the development of comprehensive GME well-being programs that meet the ACGME Section VI Common Program Requirements on Well-Being and address issues related to anti-racism and the pandemic. The course is intended to equip all participants with an action plan for next steps by the program's conclusion and will include sufficiently new content to benefit course participants from last year.

Objectives

·         Identify factors contributing to burnout for physicians of color.

·         Understand how structural racism affects well-being and must be an integral component of addressing well-being.

·         Identify where well-being efforts and efforts to address structural racism and promoting anti-racism in the learning environment can align and be complementary.

  1. Identify factors contributing to burnout for physicians of color.
  2. Redefine well-being in today’s world with a focus on the challenges and stressors related to racial Injustice and structural racism.
  3. Reflect on their own well-being and the role race and ethnicity may play in their well-being, and how this differs from the experiences of others.
  4. Identify 2-3 steps attendees can take at their institution to learn more about the efforts to address structural racism, and how to align their well-being initiatives with those efforts
