Course Overview
An intense, 3-day educational program combining didactic lectures, point-counterpoint debates, interactive question and answer sessions, in-depth panel discussions, and live surgical demonstrations. The program will focus on providing critical education and training to urologists, oncologists, primary care physicians, and radiologists, as well as medical students, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants and researchers. The program will educate and train attendees on issues and procedures related to the identification, treatment, and management of patients with prostate and other urological cancers, which will improve knowledge, competence and performance.


Objectives
  1. Utilize screening techniques for prostate cancer more efficiently to reduce the numbers of biopsies and diagnosis of clinically insignificant prostate cancer.
  2. Discuss effective management of treatment failure in prostate cancer to help reduce mortality.
  3. Describe the most recent approach to treating locally advanced and metastatic urologic disorders.
  4. Identify the technical challenges of robotic urologic oncologic surgery.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
