Course Overview
You are cordially invited to attend the New York Masters Course in Comprehensive Endocrine Surgery. A wide range of endocrine surgery topics will be reviewed in a highly interactive setting involving didactic and panel discussion format.The sessions will cover intensive reviews of key endocrinology and endocrine surgery topics. In addition to basic and controversial topics in thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pancreatic disorders, the sessions will focus on familial and neuroendocrine topics that are relevant to clinicians with an interest in endocrinology and endocrine surgery. Current trends in endocrinology and techniques in minimally invasive surgery will be emphasized. At the end of each session a robust case presentation and panel discussion will take place that will allow for a high degree of dialogue between audience and faculty.


Objectives
  1. Discuss current guidelines for treating thyroid cancer including an in-depth discussion of 2015 American Thyroid Association guidelines
  2. Recognize trends in the diagnosis and management of hyperparathyroidism
  3. Describe novel and minimally invasive approaches to the thyroid and parathyroid glands
  4. Demonstrate techniques in minimally invasive surgery through live surgery
  5. Examine how to evaluate incidentally detected pathology
  6. Describe the management of functioning tumors to improve the outcomes of surgery
  7. Discuss pearls for improving outcome and minimizing surgical complications
  8. Improve the understanding of the link between cervical and abdominal endocrine pathology in familial conditions
  9. Discuss and evaluate 2015 American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines for the management of medullary carcinoma
