Date & Location
Friday, December 6, 2019, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Leon & Norma Hess Center for Science and Medicine, Davis Auditorium, 1470 Madison Avenue, New York, NY

Target Audience
Specialties - Neurosurgery

Course Overview

Registered neurosurgeons will hear experts from both the US and Europe discuss fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS). They will also have the opportunity to become certified for FGS upon completion of the symposium. The goal is to equip our healthcare providers with the tools they need to provide optimum healthcare to their patients.

Topics that will be covered include the current state of FGS for brain tumors; 5-ALA FGS for high- and low-grade tumors; microscope and handheld FGS of brain tumors; 5-ALA for other CNS tumors and sterotactic biopsies; the use of FGS and intraoperative MRI; use of fluorescein for brain tumor FGS; tozuleristide FGS of pediatric brain tumors; antibody-labeled fluorophores for GBM resection; 5-ALA photodynamic therapy for GBM; and a panel discussion on how surgeons can use FGS in their practice.

Objectives
  1. Define the use of fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) for gliomas to practicing neurosurgeons.
  2. Discuss the use of FGS for different tumor types.
  3. Discuss the use of FGS in combination with other intraoperative visualization technologies.
