Course Overview
Our WORKSHOPS provide participants with a choice of Three Tracks in which to gain expertise. Concentrate in one track to develop expertise or mix-and-match tracks to experience a variety of topics: (1) HOSPITALIST AS GENERALIST - Develop mastery of core topics, including Palliative Care, Medical Consultation, and Peri-operative Optimization. (2) HOSPITALIST AS SPECIALIST - Develop expertise in Acute Stroke, Management of the Decompensating Patient, and Hemolysis/Thrombocytopenia. (3) INNOVATION ? Let?s go outside the box! Workshops will provide Tips on Using Twitter for your Career, Wealth Management for the Hospitalist, and Graphic Medicine


Objectives
  1. Incorporate the updated ACC/AHA guidelines into the management of patients with atrial fibrillation.
  2. Identify patients with pulmonary embolism who can be safely discharged and treated at home.
  3. Differentiate acute gout from septic arthritis for patients with acutely inflamed joints.
  4. Interpret ECG and CXR accurately to improve the timeliness and quality of medical management.
  5. Manage and resuscitate patients who acutely decompensate on the medical wards.
