Course Overview
This symposium will provide clinicians with a comprehensive review of cuttingedge practices in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. A broad spectrum of diseases including Parkinson disease, dystonia, tics and Tourette syndrome, tremor, and functional movement disorders will be addressed. Through didactic lecture and video review attendees will learn about current medical and cutting-edge diagnostic and management strategies including chemodenervation and surgical interventions (deep brain stimulation and MRI-guided focused ultrasound). The program will offer learners a compendium of information that will better enable them to practice clinical neurology in 2022 and beyond.


Objectives
  1. Discuss management options for dystonia including local injections of botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation (DBS).
  2. Discuss the efficacy of treatments for tics and Tourette syndrome and the risks associated with their use.
  3. Devise an appropriate management strategy for a patient with motor symptoms of Parkinson disease.
  4. Describe an appropriate movement disorder candidate for DBS (deep brain stimulation) or MRI-guided high intensity focused ultrasound.
  5. Explain the current understanding of functional movement disorders and their management.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (6.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (6.00 hours)
