Course Overview

The journey to become a Master Clinician cannot be stopped by a pandemic. Featuring concise sessions on essential topics in the care of hospitalized patients to help all attendees develop their expertise. Sessions include a panel discussion of the care of patients with COVID-19, and lectures on AKI, Acute Pain Management, Essentials of Peri-Operative Medicine, the Care of the Decompensating Patient, and more.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

  • A COVID panel featuring national leaders in vaccine development, clinical management, and long-term sequelae
  • Keynote address by SHM President Danielle Scheurer offering a “State of the Union” for hospital medicine
  • Develop expertise in advanced oxygen, including when and how to use Hi-Flo NC and Bi-Pap
  • Enhance your critical care skills with an interactive case-based approach to the decompensating patient


    Objectives
    1. Manage patients with COVID-19 using the most current treatment strategies.
    2. Choose appropriate advanced oxygen therapy, including Hi-flo NC and Bi-pap for patients with acute respiratory failure.
    3. Identify patients with acute kidney injury who may require hemodialysis.
    4. Treat patients with acute pain with opiates and non-opiate medications safely.
    5. Identify patients with C diff who may benefit from fecal tranplant.
