Course Overview
During the past decade, the view of personality disorders has changed dramatically. We are also committed to informing clinicians, patients, and their family members about the latest information concerning this set of disorders. This CME activity provides an exchange for cutting edge research, best practices in diagnosis and treatment of individuals with personality disorders.
Objectives
  1. Describe how to match patient characteristics with specific forms of psychotherapy and select appropriate psychosocial treatments for the personality disorders.
  2. Describe the underlying neurobiological finding that correlates with suicide risk and will develop an algorithm to manage this risk in patients with personality disorders.
  3. Identify current barriers around treatment resistance.
  4. Implement an action plan to more effectively engage family members in the discussion of diagnosis and prognosis with their loved one with a personality disorder.
