Course Overview
Pelvic floor disorder may cause a variety of symptoms such as constipation, obstructive defecation, and urinary and fecal incontinence. According to the National Institutes of Health almost one-quarter of women face pelvic floor disorders. This program is intended to help healthcare professionals gain a better understanding of pelvic floors disorders, as well as the evaluation and treatment of pelvic dysfunction. We will discuss the misconception surrounding mesh and other forms of pelvic floor repair.
Objectives
  1. Review available data options for pelvic floor disorders and the techniques available to evaluate individual patients so as to determine which treatment option is most appropriate for a particular patient
  2. Discuss and review the appropriate screening options, from least to most invasive, for pelvic floor disorder to provide patients with the most comprehensive and up to date recommendations and therapies.
  3. Identify and discuss surgical options for both colon and rectal surgeons and urogynecologists to treat the defects to pelvic floor disorder
  4. Identify and discuss nonsurgical options, including biofeedback and behavior modification to treat pelvic floor disorder
