Course Overview
Our regularly schedule series Wednesday Morning Conference is Intimately linked to our quality improvement efforts in the following ways: 1) the Vice Chair for Quality is a member of the Planning Committee; 2) All members of the planning committee also sit on the Departmental Performance Improvement Committee 3) Recommendations from the PI committee are directly routed to Dr. Katz to assure inclusion on the Wednesday Morning Conference Schedule and 4) All invited speaker invitation are derived from perceived need for additional education in a specific area.

Objectives
  1. 1. Review the physiologic implications of pre-existing conditions (Medical Knowledge)
  2. 2. Identify the utility pre-operative assessment and medical optimization in regards to improving outcomes (Systems-Based Practice, Practice Based Learning)
  3. 3. Discuss the different techniques to mitigate risk in this patient population (Patient Care)
