Course Overview
During the event there will be three short talks for the primary care provider on the contemporary management of cardiac problems that they are likely to encounter in their practices. This edition's topics include how to recognize the more dangerous forms of mitral prolapse, how to manage the patient with a dilated aortic root or aneurysm, and how to manage the patient who is plagued by angina despite not having any obstructive coronary disease. Each talk will be given by a recognized expert in the field and will be followed by a question and answer session.

Objectives
  1. Better identify those patient with mitral valve prolapse more likely to have an adverse outcome and to refer appropriately.
  2. Understand and explain to patient the natural history of aortic disease, the indications for and medical treatment of, as well as the indications for surgical referral.
  3. Refer patients with angina despite non-obstructive disease for appropriate testing and to understand how to initiate guideline directed medical therapy based on those results.

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
