Course Overview
This course will reflect on the history of Mount Sinai St.Luke’s endoscopy and provide a series of lectures and discussions on the following topics that commonly affect our patient population: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), non-celiac gluten sensitivity, gastric intestinal metaplasia, dysphagia, and Barrett’s esophagus. By reviewing guidelines and addressing diagnostic or management challenges in above areas, this event aims to enhance physician competency thereby patient care and outcome.

Objectives
  1. Recognize history of medical therapy for IBD and describe new trends and advances in medical therapy
  2. Select appropriate labs and procedures for diagnosis of celiac disease and distinguish laboratory or clinical differences in celiac disease and non-celiac gluten-intolerance.
  3. Describe implications of gastric intestinal metaplasia in gastric cancer and describe surveillance guidelines for intestinal metaplasia
  4. Describe recent innovations in manometry and planimetry and when they should be utilized in workup for dysphagia
  5. Describe medical or endoscopic therapies available to treat Barrett’s esophagus
