Course Overview
The goal of this popular annual symposium is to provide clinicians in the tri-state community with a comprehensive review of cutting-edge practices in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. A broad spectrum of diseases including Parkinson disease, dystonia, and tics and Tourette Syndrome, will be addressed. Through video review, didactic lecture, and interactive discussions with expert clinicians, attendees

Objectives
  1. Recognize the clinical presentations (abnormal movements) that characterize movement disorders.
  2. Devise an appropriate diagnostic and management strategy for the patient with advancing Parkinson disease, including management of cognitive, psychiatric, and other non-motor symptoms.
  3. Describe an appropriate movement disorder candidate for DBS (deep brain stimulation) surgical intervention
  4. Recognize the symptoms of atypical Parkinson disease.
  5. Discuss the impact of exercise on Parkinson disease.
  6. Recognize the clinical syndrome of dystonia, list current treatment approaches including local injections of botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation (DBS), and discuss genetic testing and its implications.
  7. Discuss management strategies for tics and common co-morbidities in Tourette syndrome.
