2019 Urology Coding Seminar

This coding seminar will emphasize changes for 2019 ICD-10 and CPT coding. It will introduce urology codes established by RVS (Relative Value Scale) Update Committee (RUC). It will explain and discuss the introduction of the Medicare Quality Payment Program as described under the Medicare Access and Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The risk of urology practice will be reviewed including risks of the EMR:metadata, proper coding technique, judicious use of macros and need for documentation and emphasizing the importance of shared decision making.

1. Recognize and integrate new ICD-10 and CPT code updates for urologic diseases
2. Identify and illustrate how MACRA relates to the quality payment program and how it will be utilized to improve the quality care of patients
3. Review new urology CPT codes to determine shared decision making and appropriate permitting of procedural events
4. Interpret the importance of metadata and lack of documentation in the EMR and evaluate its associated dangers and how it affects risk management
