Course Overview
The 19th Annual Mount Sinai Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Consultant’s Course is a Live Onsite course with Virtual Option. It will provide an in-depth review of strategies for participants to better diagnose, classify and achieve remission in patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. State-of-the-art lectures will be given by expert faculty on new medications approved for IBD, how therapy can be optimized, the treatment of fistula, how the disease can be monitored and debates concerning challenging clinical scenarios. This year’s course will focus on the new medications approved to treat IBD and how we can position and choose appropriate therapies. The goal is to help IBD caregivers and physicians meet the needs of our IBD patients by addressing sub-optimal disease control, appropriate choice of medications, and what treatment targets we should focus on. The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai course directors have selected experts in this field to lend their expertise to highlight the latest advances in the treatment to a disease that affects about 3.0 million people in the US.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the use and adverse events associated with ozanimod, risankizumab, and upadacitinib.
  2. Describe treatment options for special populations including pregnant patients, and patients with penetrating sequalae.
  3. Describe appropriate implementation of therapeutic drug monitoring and treat-to-target approaches in clinical practice.
  4. Identify the rationale for positioning of biologic therapies for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
