Course Overview
This is a one day live conference on home dialysis sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Practitioners, researchers, clinician-scientists and registered nurses who are experts in the field of kidney disease will discuss current developments in the field of Peritoneal Dialysis and related dialysis modalities. The topics will range from nutritional management of patients with kidney disease to organizing a successful PD program. Patients will also be participating in this conference and will give their perspective of whether or not peritoneal dialysis is the right choice for them.

The conference is designed for health professionals involved in established PD programs, as well as those working in new and developing programs. Both researchers and clinicians will find sessions of interest to them.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:  

  1. - Recognize the impact of nutritional management, in particular with respect to phosphorus and exemplify the survival advantage when under control.
  2. - Explain to patients the relevance of adherence to treatments and nutritional needs for their well-being.
  3. - Summarize the importance of vascular access choices and their impact on patient’s clinical outcomes.
  4. - Integrate strategies in identifying the most adequate vascular access for individual patients.
  5. - Differentiate the dynamics between intradialytic weight gain and fluid removal in relation to chronic volume overload.
  6. - Describe the most current innovations in the field of bio-engineered kidney research.

Cancellation Policy
All refund and cancellation requests must be emailed to the CME office at [email protected] by
September 7, 2018. Cancellations after this date are not eligible for a refund. An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from your refund. No refunds will be issued for registration fees that are equal to or less than $50.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai designates live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
