Course Overview
This is a half-day virtual course that will provide allergists, generalists, and allied health, with a comprehensive program on everything related to food allergies, from food allergy prevention, emerging diagnostic tools, new treatment options, to advice on counseling patients and their families on managing allergies outside of their home. Material presented will be based on scientific advances from the last year that support current clinical practice guidelines for food allergy.

Objectives
  1. Discuss how to accurately diagnose food allergy to reduce unnecessary dietary avoidances.
  2. Recognize symptoms of anaphylaxis so that treatment can be administered promptly to improve patient outcomes.
  3. Describe the first FDA-approved peanut allergy treatment and other emerging treatments for food allergy.
  4. Identify nutritional issues that may result in food allergic individuals to ensure optimal growth and development occurs.
  5. Explain how to manage food allergy in restaurants and school to help decrease allergic reactions outside of the home.
  6. Describe current approaches to preventing food allergies based on recently published data.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
