Course Overview
In light of recent advances in the care of youth with diabetes, growth disorders and other endocrinological disorders, the Mount Sinai Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes seeks to empower a broad array of clinicians to provide the highest level of care to children with diabetes and growth disorders. Participants will learn about pathophysiology, treatment goals and methods for care of children with diabetes and growth disorders, and will emerge more confident dealing with diabetes and endocrine challenges.

Objectives
  1. Identify the underlying etiology of Laron syndrome, distinguish it from other growth disorders, and understand the unique properties of Laron syndrome that impact risk for diabetes and cancer.
  2. Update on the changes in diagnostic practices, definitions of eligibility for GH treatment and dosing practices for newer GH preparations and other growth promoting agents.
  3. Recognize health disparities in the treatment of diabetes mellitus to effect change in practice.
