Course Overview
The goal of this program is to provide participants with a broad overview of the most common disorders of the musculoskeletal system that they frequently encounter in the outpatient setting. Emphasis will be placed on physical exams, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Lectures will cover the diagnosis and nonsurgical management of common conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Demonstrations will be offered in musculoskeletal examination, injection techniques, splinting methods, and imaging interpretation. To discuss diagnosis and treatment of common musculoskeletal disorders and to review applications of appropriate intervention techniques. To interpret and order appropriate imaging studies.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this CME course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the most common and most frequent musculoskeletal injuries and Identify those patients who need referral to physical therapy and who need referral to a specialist.
  2. To perform a history and physical examination, prioritize a differential diagnosis, and recommend and interpret common diagnostic tests and feel comfortable performing these activities in patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
  3. Apply appropriate management and treatment for each diagnosis
  4. Apply basic physical exam, injection and splinting techniques
