Course Overview

This longitudinal monthly program is intended for faculty and allied health professionals who have an oversight role in the area of Graduate Medical Education (GME) regarding trainee well-being and are seeking the skills and knowledge to enhance new or existing GME well-being initiatives. Such individuals might include, but are not limited to, Designated Institutional Officials, faculty and allied health professionals with a dedicated GME well-being leadership role, and program directors who are working on institution-level GME well-being initiatives. This interactive, skills-based program will place special attention on the development of a comprehensive GME well-being program that meets the ACGME Section VI Common Program Requirements on Well-Being with a focus on the themes of anti-racism and pandemic response. The course  is intended to equip all participants, including those who have previously attended, with an action plan for next steps by the program's conclusion. Course directors and instructors are all either members of CHARM and/or experts in the field of GME well-being, resilience and mental health.

Objectives
  1. Identify core components of a well-being framework to address system and individual level needs.
  2. Diagnose an institution’s readiness for change and consider how to implementation plans in alignment with the institution’s stage of change.
  3. Assess best practices and determine appropriateness of specific well-being initiatives for their institution.
  4. Develop a skill set for engaging leadership and empowering faculty and residents as change agents in the learning environment.
  5. Identify factors contributing to burnout and populations at higher risk, including specific risks for women and physicians of color.
  6. Learn about the intersection of well-being work with efforts to address structural racism and promoting anti-racism in the learning environment.
  7. Apply tools to implement an organizational response to address trainee needs during a crisis or pandemic response and make available assessments to measure impact.
  8. Discuss techniques to foster individual and organizational resilience in times of crisis.
  9. Consider the psychosocial resources needed to provide an appropriate support network at one’s home institution.
  10. Reflect on their own well-being, identify ways to reconnect and recharge their own passion with purpose, and develop and collaborate with a network of like-minded leaders.
  11. Develop practices to restore individual and group professional agency as a foundation for well-being.

The registration fee of $125 is for the entire course – all 8 sessions.


Cancellation Policy

All refund and cancellation requests must be emailed to the CME office at [email protected] by Monday, January 18, 2020. Cancellations after this date are not eligible for a refund. An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from your refund.



Accreditation

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai designates each live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
