Dr. Kirby has been is a clinician-researcher in Dermatology for several years. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Dermatology; Director of the Dermatology Residency Program; and Vice Chair of Education. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech. She went on to earn her Medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After completing her Dermatology Residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, she joined the faculty at Penn State in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In her clinical and research work, she is interested in acneiform conditions including acne, rosacea, and, especially, hidradenitis suppurativa – its effects on people, outcome measurement, and pathomechanism. She is also interested in value-based research, including alternative payment models.  She is the PI of a number of clinical research trials and is an active member of a number of local as well as national committees and organizations.
