Course Overview
The 6th Annual Advances in Neurology is a full-day CME event that will provide clinicians with an update on diagnostic processes, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative management strategies in these areas of neurology: headache, movement disorders, epilepsy, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, opioids for chronic pain, and neuropathy. Through didactic lecture, case presentations, and interactive discussions with expert clinicians, attendees will be better enabled to diagnose and manage adults and children living with neurologic disorders in 2019 and beyond.

Objectives
  1. Discuss existing, new, and potential options for migraine prevention including oral medications, devices, injectables, and interventional therapies.
  2. Utilize the updated guidelines and criteria for diagnosing and categorizing multiple sclerosis and describe a comprehensive management plan.
  3. Recognize the features of various movement disorders and describe options for management.
  4. Identify appropriate treatment approaches for acute ischemic stroke and recognize cases that are appropriate for referral to comprehensive stroke centers offering acute endovascular interventions.
  5. Describe medical and surgical options for the treatment of epilepsy.
  6. Explain the classification of Alzheimer’s Disease and discuss recent research results.the diagnosis of dementia with patients and describe recent research results.
  7. Recognize the symptoms of neuropathy discuss evidence-based management options.
  8. Discuss nationally accepted opioid prescribing guidelines for chronic pain in clinical practice.

Accreditation
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
