Course Overview

This activity is the annual meeting of the New York Regional Association of Internal Medicine Educators formerly known as the Special Interest Group of the national Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM-NYSIG.) The meeting provides educational information and faculty development/training in the area of medical education/residency training for Internal Medicine Program Directors, Associate Program Directors, Clerkship Directors, Medical Educators and Administrators in the New York State Region, including updates and information from the American College of Physicians NY Chapter and the Greater New York Hospital Association.


Objectives
  1. - Discuss the current state and challenges for non-US citizens looking to train in medicine in the US.
  2. - Explain how residents and faculty can apply immigration reform knowledge to advocate for patients.
  3. - Apply gained knowledge of immigration reform to advocate and guide non US citizens in medical training.
  4. - Describe the current best practices for conducting chart stimulated recall activities.
  5. - Review steps in the chart review process.
  6. - Apply the knowledge of chart stimulated recall to a standardized chart and educational feedback to a learner.
  7. - Explain the nominal group technique as a solution finding process.
  8. - Demonstrate the nominal group technique using a case example of identifying causes of resident wellness/burnout.
  9. - Discuss the implementation of a Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum for your residency.
  10. - Assess the feasibility of a POCUS curriculum for your own program.

Simultaneous Session B: Nominal Group Technique; Using to Address Causes of Resident Burnout and Fatigue

Simultaneous Session C: Using a Structured Chart Review and Chart Simulated Exercise as a Tool for Resident Review



Cancellation Policy
A $50 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds/cancellations issued. All refund and cancellation requests must be emailed to the CME Office at [email protected] by July 12, 2018. No refunds will be issued for cancellation request made after this date. Refunds are not issued for “no-shows.”


Accreditation

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
